Written record...

It's about time I wrote on here instead of cheating and just adding photos!
We've been having a fab time.... lots to see, lots to do, lots of lovely people we are meeting and plenty of sitting in the car in between stops!
Kids have been pretty good with the travelling. We've had some pretty variable weather, from v hot to freezing cold winds. We've mostly been free-camping now that we're further out west (free camping is just stopping overnight in a rest area slightly off the road) however, I must add that we're not alone: there is so many cars/vans on the road that there is usually about 8 - 10 others stopped at the same rest area! Grey nomads rule!! We're in Mt Isa at the moment, it's been fairly busy in town as the annual Rodeo was on this weekend so the cowboys/girls have come to town! We hope to do some sightseeing here today then head off and cross the NT border all being well on Tuesday. Hope all is well with folks at home and those we've left behind along the way, we're thinking of you all. Cheerio, N G L R C

Some statistics that may be of interest:
31 degrees the hottest day we've struck
40 the UHF channel that Truckies use- v interesting!
53 metres the length of a Road Train

1.609 the dearest price for Diesel
63 the most stones to cross the Carnarvon creek crossing

1928 the year the first Royal Flying Doctors started

18 the wheels on a Qantas 747
5860 kms we're travelled so far
60 (approx) the most freecampers together at Longreach
